Release Notes for 9.8.0

Checkmarx SAST 9.8.0 is a maintenance release built on version 9.7.0. This release introduces no new scanning capabilities, queries, or feature changes beyond what was already delivered in 9.7.0 and its associated Engine Pack and Hotfixes.

SAST 9.8.0 ships with the same scan engine as Engine Pack (EP) 9.7.7.1000. No new engine, query, or language/framework changes are included beyond what was already delivered in that Engine Pack. If you are running EP 9.7.7.1000 on top of 9.7.0 will see no functional scanning differences after upgrading to 9.8.0. For more details on the engine content see Engine Pack Version 9.7.7.

Version 9.8.0 includes all Hotfixes (HF) released for 9.7.0, up to and including HF12. Hotfixes HF1 through HF12 are fully incorporated into this release; there is no need to separately apply these hotfixes after installing or upgrading to 9.8.0.

The release was driven by the end of life (EOL) of .NET 8, which required moving the platform to .NET 10 as its supported runtime. This version also consolidates previously released fixes into a single installable version, as detailed below.

As of version 9.8.0, Checkmarx SAST requires .NET 10 as a prerequisite for installation. This replaces the .NET 8.0 requirement introduced in 9.7.0.

  • Before installing or upgrading to 9.8.0, ensure .NET 10 is installed on all relevant hosts (CxManager, CxEngine, Web Portal, CxAudit).

  • .NET 8.0 is no longer supported as of this release.

Note

  • This is a low-risk upgrade if you are already running 9.7.0 with EP 9.7.7.1000 and Hotfix HF12 applied; 9.8.0 consolidates these into a single installable version.

  • The only mandatory environmental change is the move to .NET 10. Confirm .NET 10 compatibility with your OS and any related infrastructure components before upgrading.

  • No changes to supported languages, frameworks, queries, or APIs are introduced beyond what is already documented for 9.7.0 / EP 9.7.7.1000.
