The Assessment and Maturity Model firstly allows measuring the maturity of an AppSec program to understand its current state as a baseline for improvements.

Secondly, it includes defining a target state or desired state suited for the specific context of the target organization with its specific requirements, including factors such as its industry, size of the organization, current maturity level, budget, and risk appetite.
